Welcome to Senior Citizens Council
of Clackamas Council

Since 1972, Senior Citizens Council, a non-profit organization, has been improving the quality of life for seniors and adults with disabilities in Clackamas County, Oregon.

We offer services not provided by any other agencies. We serve the homebound, frail, vulnerable and geographically isolated.  Older Female Adult

Our programs and services promote:

  • Independence
  • Improves quality of life
  • Delays institutionalization
  • Protects the vulnerable
  • Delays or reduces the need for state assistance or court intervention.

We serve more than 1,000 unduplicated clients annually, 75 percent are women and
70 percent are at or below 150% of poverty level. We offer guardianship diversion and guardianship/conservatorship programs.

Every day 8,000 Americans turn 60 years old and the 85+ year old population is the fastest growing segment, needing the most services. Estimates are that one out of every six seniors will be a victim of financial exploitation and one out ten will be abused or neglected.

It is also estimated that for every case of abuse that is reported another five to six go unreported. More than 12,000 cases of suspected abuse were investigated in the State of Oregon last year, with nearly 70% of them substantiated. The statistics are sobering when you consider that your own grandmother or your elderly neighbor may be one of those statistics.

Early and low cost interventions are the most practical and preferred. Our services delay or prevent the need for more costly interventions, such as adjudication. They also help to preserve our clients’ dignity, promote independence to every extent possible, and enhance the quality of their lives, everything that this most at-risk and vulnerable population deserves.

Contact us at 503-657-1366 to discuss services that may change the lives of vulnerable adults in your life or neighborhood.

Senior Citizens Council, a 501(c)3 organization, relies on grants and charitable donations in order to maintain services.
